Chiron
Through the Signs: Healing
the Wounded Healer

Chiron
is considered by many to be an asteroid or small planet that travels
between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus. Although only discovered in
1977, Chiron has become a deeply imbedded archetype in the collective
mind.
Chiron was a centaur, a mythical creature that was a perfect blend of
human reason and animal instinct. He was a great healer, but through an
accidental wound was destined to live with his suffering. Chiron in the
astrological chart shows where we have suffered but also where we can
be a healing and mentoring influence for others.
When we truly understand the mythology of Chiron we also understand
that our personal suffering is truly the grist for our role as the
wounded healer. As we heal our wounds, who better to help those that
have been wounded in the very same place?
The first step to undertaking the Chiron journey of the wounded healer
is to know what sign your Chiron is in. Below I’ve indicated the
dates and times that Chiron entered each sign (Pacific Daylight Time)
that will include most readers.
Example:
Chiron was in Cancer from 8/27/37 through 11/22/37, 5-28-1938 through
9/29/40, and 12-26-1940 through 6-16-1941.) If your birthday isn’t
included just email me and I’ll let you know.
To
find your Chiron interpretation, look for your birthdate in the chart
below and once you’ve found the sign your Chiron is in read the
interpretation that follows. Chiron goes retrograde (backwards) and has
a very erratic orbit so he’s not in each sign for the same amount of
time.

The wound with Chiron in Aries is around asserting individual will.
These folks were taught to comply to the will of others and/or suppress
their will. They can model for others how to assert one’s self
without fear of what others will think.
The wound with Chiron in Taurus is around accepting their body and
sexuality. These folks were taught to calm down their passion,
intensity and aliveness. They can model for others how to accept the
whole range of bodily expression.
The wound with Chiron in Gemini is around trusting knowledge rather
than wisdom. These folks were taught that knowledge was more important
than instinct. They can model for others how to tune into and trust
their natural intuition and knowing.
The wound with Chiron in Cancer is around the expression of emotion.
These folks were born in the middle of the war and after the great
depression where the mood was somber. They can model for others how
vulnerability is an asset rather than a liability.
The wound with Chiron in Leo is around the expression of creativity.
These folks were told that they could play after the work was done.
(..and the work was never done!)They can model for others how to follow
their heart and retain the innocence of the child.
The
wound with Chiron in Virgo is around perfectionism. These folks were
subjected to high standards that were probably impossible to meet. They
can model for others how self-acceptance is based on internal rather
than external standards.
The wound with Chiron in Libra is around self-assertion. These folks
were taught that to be accepted and loved they must give up their own
needs. They can model for others how to take care of others without
sacrificing personal autonomy.
The wound with Chiron in Scorpio is around expression of the shadow.
These folks were taught that speaking the truth and expressing their
intensity was too much. They can model for others that the shadow
(emotion, sexuality, power, etc.) is the source of their power and
creativity.
The wound with Chiron in Sagittarius is around expression of their
inherent wisdom. These folks were taught to not trust their intuition
and natural wisdom. They can model for others how to access and utilize
wisdom through the body, emotions and higher mind.
The wound with Chiron in Capricorn is around not trusting their own
authority. These folks were taught to look outside of themselves to
authority figures for answers. They can model for others how to claim
their own authority by not differing to others and trusting themselves.
The wound with Chiron in Aquarius is around expressing their
uniqueness. These folks were taught that they didn’t fit in and so
experienced alienation. They can model for others how to follow their
own path and create a niche that is uniquely their own.
The wound with Chiron in Pisces is around connection with Spirit. These
folks were taught that rational thinking was more important than belief
in a higher power. They can model for others how to re-connect with
Spirit and how to develop trust and faith.
